Born in 1978 in Detroit, Michigan alongside her twin sister, Terry Dexter is an American contemporary R&B singer-songwriter, actress and multi-instrumentalist who began her singing career when she was only 6 in her church's gospel choir. Between the age of 9 and 14, she was part of a local girl group Tristar and was later signed to Elektra Records when she turned 13.

Terry's debut album was in 1999 after she was signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1998. She's very good with instruments like Piano and Violin. Dexter made her acting debut in Deliver Us from Eva (2003).
